음악협회소개

제주국제현대음악협회(JICMA, Jeju International Contemporary Music Association)는 2018년 제주를 거점으로 국내외 현대음악의 교류와 발전을 도모하기 위해 설립된 예술단체입니다. 제주라는 지역적 특수성과 문화적 정체성을 바탕으로, 국내 작곡가 및 연주자는 물론 해외 음악가들과의 활발한 네트워크 구축을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 2018년 제1회 제주현대음악제로 첫 발걸음을 내딛은 이후, 2019년에는 국제적 위상을 강화하고자 '제주국제현대음악제(JICMF)'로 명칭을 변경하였으며, 올해로 제8회를 맞이하며 명실상부한 제주 대표 현대음악 축제로 자리매김하고 있습니다.

지난 7년간 제주국제현대음악제는 서양 클래식 악기를 비롯하여 한국 전통악기인 가야금, 거문고, 대금 등과 첨단 멀티미디어 기술이 결합된 다채로운 현대음악 작품들을 선보여 왔습니다. 국내외 전문 작곡가와 연주자, 마임이스트, 무용수들이 참여하여 실험적이고 창의적인 음악 세계를 펼쳐 보이며, 관객들에게 현대음악의 새로운 가능성과 예술적 감동을 전달해 왔습니다. 특히 동시대 음악의 다양한 작곡 기법과 연주 형식을 통해 전통과 현대, 동양과 서양의 경계를 넘나드는 독창적인 예술적 시도들이 이루어지고 있습니다.

제주국제현대음악협회는 앞으로도 국제적인 예술가 교류의 장을 확대하여 제주의 독특한 예술과 문화를 세계에 알리는 한편, 지역 내 창작음악과 현대음악의 저변 확대를 통해 제주를 현대음악의 새로운 허브로 발전시키고자 합니다. 이를 통해 제주 지역 문화예술 생태계의 다양성을 풍부하게 하고, 국내외 음악 애호가들에게 의미 있는 문화적 경험을 제공하는 것을 지속적인 목표로 삼고 있습니다.

About JICMA

The Jeju International Contemporary Music Association (JICMA) was established in 2018 as an arts organization dedicated to promoting exchange and development of contemporary music between Korea and the international community, with Jeju as its foundation. Building upon Jeju's unique regional characteristics and cultural identity, the association aims to foster active networking among domestic composers and performers as well as musicians from around the world. After taking its first steps as the 1st Jeju Contemporary Music Festival in 2018, the organization rebranded itself as the "Jeju International Contemporary Music Festival (JICMF)" in 2019 to strengthen its international standing. Now celebrating its 8th edition this year, JICMF has established itself as Jeju's premier contemporary music festival in both name and reality.

Over the past seven years, the Jeju International Contemporary Music Festival has presented a diverse array of contemporary music works that incorporate Western classical instruments, traditional Korean instruments such as gayageum, geomungo, and daegeum, as well as cutting-edge multimedia technology. With the participation of professional composers, performers, mime artists, and dancers from Korea and abroad, the festival has unveiled experimental and creative musical worlds, delivering new possibilities of contemporary music and artistic inspiration to audiences. In particular, through various compositional techniques and performance formats of contemporary music, unique artistic endeavors have been undertaken that transcend the boundaries between tradition and modernity, East and West.

The Jeju International Contemporary Music Association will continue to expand its platform for international artistic exchange, promoting Jeju's distinctive arts and culture to the world while broadening the base of creative and contemporary music within the region to develop Jeju as a new hub for contemporary music. Through these efforts, the association maintains its ongoing commitment to enriching the diversity of Jeju's cultural and artistic ecosystem and providing meaningful cultural experiences to music enthusiasts both domestically and internationally.
