앙상블 크러쉬는 현대음악과 그 퍼포먼스적 표현 가능성을 탐구하는 실내악 단체입니다. 2013년 창단 이후, 멤버들은 독주와 다양한 편성으로 수많은 콘서트와 페스티벌에 참여해 왔습니다. 주요 무대로는 에센 필하모니의 NOW 페스티벌, 불가리아 국영방송이 주최한 소피아의 Chamber Music Festival Agitato, 트리어 TUFA의 Opening Festival 등이 있습니다.

 기본 편성은 플루트, 클라리넷, 바이올린, 첼로, 피아노로 이루어진 전통적인 쇤뵈르크의 ‘달에 홀린 피에로’(Pierrot Lunaire) 구성이며, 여기에 아코디언과 라이브 전자음향을 더해 사운드의 폭과 깊이를 확장합니다. 구성원들은 다양한 국적의 연주자들로 구성되어 있어, 음악적 시야와 감각 또한 매우 국제적입니다.

 레퍼토리에는 그리제이, 케이지, 슈톡하우젠 등의 20세기- 21세기 주요 작곡가들의 작품이 포함되어 있으며, 특히 동시대 작곡가 및 예술가들과의 긴밀한 협업을 중심에 두고 활동하고 있습니다. 전통적인 무대 형식에서 벗어난 독창적인 프로그램 구성과 (라이브) 전자음향의 활용을 통해 새로운 청각적, 공간적 경험을 만들어내는 것이 앙상블 크러쉬의 특징입니다. 각 작품은 정교한 드라마투르기 속에서 서로 유기적으로 연결되며, 하나의 입체적인 사운드아트로 완성됩니다.

 앙상블은 독일 루르 지역을 거점으로 활발히 활동하고 있으며, 2016년부터 2020년까지는 작곡가 게르하르트 슈테블러와 심근수의 초청으로 뒤이스부르크 EarPort의 상주 앙상블로 활동했습니다. 이후에도 크레펠트의 “KlangBegegnung” 페스티벌(2021, 2022), 에센 필하모니 NOW 페스티벌(2024) 등 다양한 무대에서 공연을 이어가고 있습니다. 국제적으로는 2017년 소피아 국영방송 초청 공연, 2019년 루세 March Music Days에서 보지다르 스파소프 작곡가의 초청으로 “Concerto con Spasso” 무대에 올랐습니다. 앙상블 크러쉬의 다양한 프로젝트는 뮌헨 괴테재단, NRW 예술재단, 독일 음악기금 (Musikfonds), 노르트라인베스트팔렌 주 문화·과학부의 지원을 받아 진행되고 있습니다.

 Ensemble CRUSH is a formation dedicated to contemporary music and its performative modes of expression.

 Since its founding in 2013, the members of Ensemble CRUSH have performed both as soloists and in various ensemble formations at numerous concerts and festivals, including the NOW Festival of the Philharmonie Essen, the Chamber Music Festival Agitato at the Bulgarian National Radio in Sofia, and the Opening Festival at TUFA Trier.

 Based on the classic Pierrot Lunaire instrumentation of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, the ensemble expands its sonic palette with accordion and live electronics, contributed by its internationally represented members.

 Its repertoire includes established works of 20th- and 21st-century music by composers such as Gérard Grisey, John Cage, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. However, the ensemble’s main focus lies in collaborations with living composers and contemporary artists.

 Of particular interest to CRUSH is unconventional program design, often realized by breaking traditional stage settings and incorporating (live) electronics in diverse and inventive ways. Central to their approach is the relationship between individual pieces, which are interwoven through refined dramaturgical concepts into an organic whole — forming a kind of multidimensional sound-artwork in itself.

 This artistic vision is especially embodied in the ensemble’s activities in its home region, the Ruhr area. From 2016 to 2020, CRUSH was Ensemble-in-Residence at EarPort Duisburg, by invitation and with the support of composers Gerhard Stäbler and Kunsu Shim. Further highlights include appearances at the KlangBegegnung Festival at the Krefeld Pavilion in 2021 and 2022, and at the NOW Festival of the Philharmonie Essen in 2024.

 Internationally, Ensemble CRUSH has appeared as a guest at the Bulgarian National Radio in Sofia (2017), and at the March Music Days in Ruse (2019), performing at the invitation of composer Bojidar Spassov as part of Concerto con Spasso.

 Various projects by Ensemble CRUSH have been supported by institutions such as the Goethe-Institut Munich, the Arts Foundation NRW, Musikfonds, and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
